How to get DK to include new directories in collection?

John Stumbles
I have a script which gets pictures off my digital camera's SD card,
rotates them, adds date and time to their filenames (like
YYYYMMDD_hhmmss_original-filename) and puts them in folders (like
/home/john/pix/2015/20150311/ ). This is similar to what I could do
using digikam to import from the card but it handles my camera's video
files better than digikam does.)

My home directory is mounted via NFS and is a "Collection on Network
Share" in digikam. Also: /home/john/pix/ is actually a symlink to where
the filesystem is really mounted.

Sometimes after importing pictures using my script it takes digikam a
few minutes to notice the new folders and add them to the albums in my
collection. However since 13th February Digikam has not added any new
folders to my album collection!

Is there any way to make Digikam "see" the new folders and add them to
my albums?

I'm on Digikam 3.5.0 on Kubuntu 14.04 (kde 4.13.3).

You could try in the extras menu "maintenance" (I think this is the english name, in my german digikam it is "Wartung").
There you can select something like "search for new images" (if you select additional some of the other options it can take
a long time to complete). It should then show the progress in the status bar of the window and hopefully detect all your images.
