Hello everyone!
Does anybody know how to *add* a vignette or to darken borders in digiKam? Or I have to use Gimp for these things? I'm using digiKam version 0.9.4. Thanks to everyone! gerlos _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

For 0.9.5 from svn (and I think for 0.9.4 as well), Image Editor/Enhance/Vignetting Correction might do what you want. I can'r see any way of reversing it so that it adds vignetting by darkening borders. -- Using Opera's revolutionary e-mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Actually, when playing around with it, I observed two issues: - negative radius: does not seem to have any effect? - when pressing "Defaults", the view is not updated. To come back to the originial question: For adding vignette, could this be realized by extending the range of any of the sliders (e.g. a negative density?) or do we need a checkbox for this "inverted" purpose? Unless there is a way to add vignette in some way, could you please file a new wish in the bug-tracker so that it is not forgotten? Arnd, yes, it's possible to add vignetting with current algorithm from this tool. I have just limited slider for that, because... i cannot see why a photograph want to _add_ vignetting to an image. So it's a 5 mns fix to do (:=))) Gilles _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

But wouldn't it then be an effect? Not a correction?
So actually this should be a different menu entry... 2008/11/20 Andi Clemens <[hidden email]> But wouldn't it then be an effect? Not a correction? This is why current tool is in Fix menu (:=))) My first idea is to provide a tool to fix pictures... Even Ansel Adams suggested to darken the borders of the prints to "don't let the eyes wandering outside of the photo". I love this technique because make the shot look less "flat", and a lot of people usually make the borders slightly darker (many times you won't even notice it, you need to see the original to see the change). Really, it would be great if we could do a feather selection of part of the image and let some tools act *only* on it or only on the remaining part of the image (just as an inverted selection). For example, for darkening borders I could select the central part of the image, invert the selection, and use the curves tool to get the desired effect. This way we could do a lot more things, without the need to add more tools. In this moment I don't see any use for the selection tool in digiKam, but maybe I didn't look carefully enough... Do you think I should add these wishes to the bug-tracker? Sorry if it's not a new idea... regards gerlos _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
