Hey Mark Fraser....

Paul Verizzo
I noticed that you are using Kubuntu.  In my many recent distro testings, I found that Kubuntu had a characteristic that made it a "non starter" for me.  I only bring this up to ask, "Did I miss something?"

Longish story to my question:  One of the great advances in the classic Windows GUI was not having to click on the menu items in many programs.  Hover, and the menu would drop down, and then the submenus.  Hooray!  What I saw in Kubuntu is that it's a return to menu clicking, both opening and closing (I may be wrong on the latter.)

In my Linux putzing I'm playing with PCLOS which uses KDE 4.6, I think, but w/o all the clicking.  Also classic Ubuntu  11.04 via Wubi, and Ubuntu Netbook 10.x, also via Wubi.  In none of those is there all that clicking needed.  Since I have a SLIGHT preference for KDE, just wondering if I'm missing something.

(And FWIW, I don't get the passions generated in the Gnome v. KDE debate.  Both are good, both work, both have their quirks.  I see more difference in how two users might set up their Windows machines. )

Thanks, Paul

Really? I don't notice this behavior, just tested it with Windows 7. Or
is there a setting somewhere in Windows to get this? At least, it isn't
a default setting.

Regards
Lutz
