Hi,
regarding the usage of git in everyday development, I want to highlight the
blog post of David Faure:
http://blogs.kde.org/2012/10/19/updating-git-checkout-finally-easy-svnand recommend to install and use his script for "git up".
I still dont understand why git itself does not offer this easy solution for
the commonest task and instead sets up annoyances (manual stash and stash-pop)
and serious pitfalls (non-rebasing pull per default), but this script performs
as we need it.
