Thank you again Sveinn. I am new to all this!

Can someone guide me as to how to configure Thunderbird as my email
client running Windows 10?
When I click on DEFAULT I have no option to change it to Thunderbird….

in windows 10 you should be able to press the Windows key, start typing "default" and  choose "choose a default email app" from the search results

In a previous description she wrote "default email program Thunderbird
comes up but there is no image attached"; which indicates that TB is
already configured as default email-application. So I figured she may
have to specify Thunderbird as the e-mail client in the 'Export --> Send
with E-mail' options.
I think this is also necessary in Linux.

Melissa Mendelsohn
Yes, Thunderbird is set through Windows 10 as my default email client.
When I try to email an image, Thunderbird comes up. However, there is no image attached.
This is my frustration.

It has to be a bug then.
Too bad there is no terminal in Windows 10.
I tried opening digikam in cmd as well as in powershell but there is no output there

According to section "Compose new mail with command line" on this page
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments_(Thunderbird)

it may be tricky to run thunderbird correctly from within a different
application, and it may differ in details depending on the TB version,
and the target OS, e.g. Windows vs. Linux.

Anyway, -compose which is the command to let TB open a message compose
window seems to be mis-interpreted as a filename in the Windows version
of DK. So for me this sounds like a bug in DK, where eventually the TB
command line is not escaped correctly.

Does the name of the file or path to the file you are going to send
contain spaces?

Currently I am working on this bug. It should be fixed in digiKam-5.8.0. It is
already tested here with Windows7, not yet tested with Windows10.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments_(Thunderbird)

it may be tricky to run thunderbird correctly from within a different
application, and it may differ in details depending on the TB version,
and the target OS, e.g. Windows vs.

And the 'Options for sending photos' window looks like? The one before
this screengrab.

New try, tested here with Windows10 in a virtual machine and it works now. If

Bravo!!  I was able to send an image through Thunderbird. Thank you so much.
Just so you know, when the email is sent, the FINISH button is greyed out. I had to X it out…

Re: Cannot set default email client in Digikam running Windows 10

Melissa Mendelsohn-2
Good Morning… On Nov. 9th at 9:07am I sent you the following…

Hi Gilles,

Bravo!!  I was able to send an image through Thunderbird. Thank you so much.
Just so you know, when the email is sent, the FINISH button is greyed out. I had to X it out…
Thanks again for everything.

Thank you… I await… :-)
