First digiKam 4.9.0 PKG installer for OSX...

Hi all,

I just completed to build the first digiKam 4.9.0 stand alone PKG
installer for OSX :

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7yq-xFihT0_dWFvcUFFMUd0VzA/view?usp=sharing

File size is around 153Mb. It include last KDE4 and digiKam +
kipi-plugins 4.9.0. It have been compiled under Yosemite with debug
symbols in case of crash to obtain suitable backtrace to hack.

You will able to install digiKam in parallel safety of already
installed Macports install. Macports by default go to /opt/local,
digiKam will go to /opt/digikam.

Please test and report if all work fine on your computer.

I had thrown away macports with digikam and the setup from the last .pkg from you.

Do I have to setup macports and digikam from digikam.org and your first .pkg to run this debug-02 pkg ?

no. debug-03 pkg is under progress with necessary fixes. Will be ready
to download on GDrive in 15mns.

Hi

my OS Mac OS X yosemite 10.10.3

this last .pkg was setting up digikam as I could do at firt time before I followed the instructions in README(1).MACOSX.txt

After setting up digikam-4.9.0-OSX10.10-Yosemite-debug-03.pkg

I got digikam to open it asked for the database on my USB 2T and opened thumbnails in the folders only

When i click twice on the thumbnail Reduced Size Preview doesn't open and chosing Table layout for the thumbnails digikam crashes.

ladybug - digikam- The KDE Crash Header freezes

and maybe it can't work because Yosemite only accepts LLDB

GDB in Terminal is giving no respond.

conflict with libraries compiled with and without these information.

PKG file size is reduced to 170Mb...

redundant and crash application...

I just discovered than under Yosemite, open file limit is just...
256... where under Linux its 65536...

This break digiKam startup quickly. Icons, XML configuration, plugins,
etc, cannot be loaded at runtime. And finally digiKam crash or become
unstable.

It's easy to solve as explained here :

I don't know. It's compiled under Yosemite 64bits. So i'm sure that it
will work fine.

Perhaps previous version of OSX 64 bits (not too old) will work. But not sure.

As i can see, Macports provide separated binaries PKG for each OS
version. It must have a reason for that.

For another OSX version, the script to build PKG must run without to
many problems.

Only XCode/CLI tools must be installed previously. After that script
automatically download macports, install it, compile all dependencies,
compile digiKam. All is done in a dedicated bundle (/opt/digikam) to
not break an already installed macports used in production
(/opt/local).

I forget to said that Macports source code are downloaded, not a
binary version. So compilation of Macports will adjust all for the
current OSX version.
