Hello, A colleague of mine approached me with the following question:--- I run digikam quite a while, and I did some face tagging. Unfortunately, with an upgrade I lost existing face tags (or more precisely the face root). When I check the meta data of a picture it says face tag a/b/c but I don't have it in the digicam face hierarchy. Any idea how to debug? Any idea how to import face data from the meta data of the pictures? --- |
He probably did not check the box "write face tagging" into the files in Metadata settings Behavior tab. I think the only way to restore the data now is to find that database digikam4.db file. Your original message says the tags are found when checking the metadata of a photo. Depending on how this check was done, it suggests the tags ARE saved in the images. In that case it should be possible to reload them into the db by using the relevant Image or Album menu item.

I suggest using a copy of the images, as I would worry that in messing around one could accidentally overwrite the tags that are there now.
