Hi all,
I've converted cr2 to dng and embedded the file. I can't figure out how to extract the original file. I've even tried to use adobe's own dng converter tool to extract the images. (http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/index.html) (Error message is "No embedded originals were extracted") How can I do this? Digikam doesn't appear to offer an extraction tool... perhaps I'm wrong? Can exiftool be used? Thanks, Pete _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Oh crap. I've been doing this for the past several days, converting my ARW files to DNG with the originals embed and I'm almost done... and then I read this. :(
I just tried using the Adobe DNG converter and got the same results when I tried extracting. Please people, tell me I haven't been wasting my time. :( On Sun, Jan 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM, Peter A. Can we please get some advice on this situation? Even if we can't currently get them through the kipipluggins UI, it's still possible in the future, right?

Unfortunately it looks like that the embedded originals are corrupted. Please fill in a bug entry at bugs.kde.org for easier tracking of status and comments. I will take a look at source code and documentation. At the moment I don't know more about the reason.

So, if I went and converted an .ARW file to DNG and then deleted the .ARW, theres no chance of getting that ARW back?

Oh no... major bummer. I recall thinking I was crazy as I pushed the
delete key. Perhaps, at least, the embedded original can be detached so we don't have to carry the added weight? Bug reported. Thanks for looking into it. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=262125 Pete On 01/04/2011 12:39 PM, "Jens Müller" wrote: > Unfortunately it looks like that the embedded originals are corrupted. As was I, when deleting the originals... thankfully I believe I have most of mine floating around in tar.gz's
But yes, at least let us remove the dead weight. On Tue, Jan 4, 2011 at 3:46 PM, Peter A. Gustafson <[hidden email]> wrote: Oh no... major bummer.
