Hello list,
I'm trying to export some RAW files to a google photos custom folder. Export settings are: - resize (72dpi, max dimensions 2048px) - tags path behaviour: split tags When I browse pictures into google photos, the portrait pictures are not well oriented. If I display the exif tags for one of the RAW photo, settings are ok. I haven't check for all pictures, but in digikam they are all well oriented. It seems it concerns only RAW files (CR2 and NEF), not JPEG files but I'm not sure. Is there a setting I forgot - before or during the export - to keep the appropriate orientation? digikam version 5.2 * KDE Frameworks 5.18.0 * Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1) * The xcb windowing system Thanks for your help. The RAW export will process file to extract jpeg embedded in RAW, for performance reasons. There are no RAW post processing. The problem with RAW and JPEG embedded is that orientation can be no synchronized, especially if RAW is previously visualized with camera and rotation done with the device while preview. In other word, i recommend to process RAW to jpeg before to export, just to see if the problem disappear. Gilles Caulier 2016-09-26 16:10 GMT+02:00 Matthieu <[hidden email]>:

Hello Gilles, Thank you for your answer. I'm not sure to understand what do you suggest: did you suggested that I must generate for each RAW file the related JPG file and export only these JPG files? I think this is the process involved by the google export feature, but do you suggest to do it manually? Even if JPEG files which are exported to google photos seems not having the same issue, it's quite impossible for me to do that: Almost all my pictures are RAW files (more than 10000) and I don't want to save also the related JPG (for some storage and picture management reasons). I don't know if the issue is during the JPG export to google photos or this is google photos which does not understand the exported files, but for sure when I was managing my pictures within picasa, I didn't have this issue: All the pictures were well oriented. Honestly, I would be very surprised if this issue is during the JPG export - because almost all the visible tags in my RAW pictures are also available in JPG google photos (like the EXIF geotags, EXIF caption, etc) - so it would surprising that orientation tags disappears. Is there a location where JPG files are stored or are they deleted after export to google photos? Is there others people who have encountered the same issue? Thank for your help. Yes exactly.
You can do it easily with BQM, at least to confirm than RAW to JPEG conversion before to upload to cloud service fix the problem. Warning : BQM has an option to extract embebed preview from RAW instead to process RAW data, as current google tool do.
If you confirm the issue, please report this to bugzilla. Gilles Caulier |
Thank you Gilles. I'll try this approach and let you know. Regards Matthieu 2016-09-27 20:41 GMT+02:00 Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]>:
