I am having trouble with this plugin. It does not rotate images prior to
uploading them so they appear in my gallery in the wrong orientation. I am led to believe that Piwigo expects them to already be rotated when uploaded. Is anyone else seeing this? Digikam correctly shows the image rotated. I 've never had rotation problems with Piwigo and/or Digikam.
Digikam automatically rotates my pictures when uploading them from my memory card, and they are exported to Piwigo with the right orientation. Before Digikam, I used Photoshop Elements with Windows, and it worked the same with Piwigo (though I had to upload the pictures manually into the Piwigo gallery). I have found that if I use the AutoRotate Using EXIF information option
in digikam to rotate the image and then upload it is OK, however as downloaded from my camera they do not upload OK (but they display correctly in digikam). How do you force this at download time from the camera so I dont have to do it afterwards? I don't remember having done anything specifically to this effect.
But you might want to check the Digikam settings for the metadata; in french, the first 2 lines concerns "Actions EXIF", and they are both selected. Thanks Marie-Noelle but those two are set in my settings. However as I
said unless I specifically do the rotate on the image my Piwigo images are not rotated. I am using 1.9.0 of both digikam and kipi-plugins on the new Mageia distribution - if that makes any difference! Any one else any ideas? I'm using 1.9.0 version too, with Fedora 14.
What I would check, in that order: - Digikam rotates the picture upon reception AND updates the exif accordingly => you should be able to open the picture in another application and it shows in the correct orientation - kipi-plugin (Piwigo export) transfers the photo without any change, and Piwigo displays it correctly => if not, ypu might find an answer on the Piwigo forum. I know it has been an issue from time to time, depending on uploading tools and such. But I'm afraid I'm not a regular poster in this forum as I used to be. If you fancy a test, just post me a photo you've a problem with, and I'll check in both my Digikam and one of my Piwigo gallery. Well I have been playing some more and asking on the Piwigo forum but to
no avail. Piwigo says the photo should be rotated prior to export by digikam and no action is taken by Piwigo. Plus there is no rotate function in Piwigo so I cannot rotate images correct which are already in the album. Now if I do an explicit rotate in digikam prior to export then the photo appears correctly in the album rotated. When I download photos from my Canon SX10IS camera to digikam it rotates them and when opened in other applications like GIMP or gwenview they are displayed correctly. The problem only seems to happen if I export to Piwigo without doing the explicit rotate. Can anyone help me solve this. digikam and kipi-plugins are both 1.9 running on Mageia. AFAIK, that's true I also have what I think is a bug somewhere (but my digikam version is old): I can only rotate the images in digikam in the editor. If I try to rotate 90° in the viewer, it rotates 180°. The problem is that most Linux program take account of the exif orientation tag, so one can't know only by viewing if the image is rotated or not. It's only when exporting to digikam that you see the problem, and it's very difficult afterward to make piwigo understand you have changed the image (it keeps the old image cached). I don't make enough vertical images to have built a real solution. The best should be a script to rotate the image *before* digikam see them and clear the tag. Right now, I tell digikam *not* to rotate and open the editor to correct the vertical images jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://pizzanetti.fr _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Maybe a hint: I tried to export raw pictures to a Piwigo gallery, and that time, the orientation was wrong and the photo description was lost.
I didn't encounter this problem previously, as I used to edit my photos, thus converted them to jpeg, before exporting to Piwigo. Hope this helps, Marie-Noëlle 2011/6/17 jdd <[hidden email]> Le 17/06/2011 12:40, Stuart T Rogers a écrit : -- Une galerie photos, un blog ... pourquoi pas ?
