Hello,
does anybody here have experiences with dcraw for Nikon RAW images? During the last weekend, I compared dcraw with the proprietary Nikon View. The results are a lot better using Nikon View, compared to dcraw. But what surprised me most is, that the images are a lot sharper and have more details. Does anybody have faced similar? I requested, I can upload a sample and post a link. I don't know about Nikon View and dcraw as a commandline tool. But I had the same experience comparing Bibble and digiKam. But experimenting with the IO-files settings in digiKam configuration, solved it. Specially white- and color-balance and a Brightness of 1.10 to 1.20 helped me a lot Caspar. -- De behoefte aan veiligheid gaat gepaard met grote uitbundigheid: eigen emotie eerst. If you take a look into NEF metadata, you will see a datadump are in makernotes dedicaced to image stabilization correction. Of course, these data are encrypted and unreadable easily by digiKam and co. I supose than Nikon View will use these informations to optimize image on screen. There are many options. I frequently use dcraw with Nikon nef files and I don't have any trouble. I don't have a Nikon camera, but a Minolta Dynax 5D. i use dcraw with all my RAW picture (via digikam of course (:=))), and i'm very happy. I can compare result with Minolta Win32 software... In dcraw i always use AHD quality algoritm and Auto/camera WB settings. I'm working in 16 bits and color management enable, using Minolta color profile files. Item for current implementation of RAW converter kipi-plugin. Note : you don't need an external dcraw depency now (:=)))) Gilles Caulier _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
