Hi,
besides the fact, that templates (at least over here) do not work in
the way they're supposed to, I doubt that the principle of templates
itself is sufficient.
Proposal:
Allow to attach the same data as you can enter into a template or for
an image to all directories/album.
Whenever a value for a given pictures is empty, recursively climb up
the directory structure until you find an entry, thus building a
hierarchy.
That way you can easily set (and change) settings for a tree of
directories, and set more common tags (author, URL, email) on a higher
level than more specific ones (e.g. city).
