Is it possible to get numbers along with image names in
the display of thumbnails? For example, I need to locate image nb. 657 in a particular directory (which is defined as an album in digikam). Thanks Agus _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Hi!
You could add an increasing number to the filename: 1) select all files in the folder 2) open the rename dialog: Menu: Image -> Rename ... 3) use a pattern like "[file]-##" This would change my_picture.jpg to my_picture-03.jpg Regards, Peter On 15.02.2013 15:16, Agustin Lobo wrote: > Is it possible to get numbers along with image names in > the display of thumbnails? Have you set up the display accordingly? Using Digikam configuration menu, you can display/hide many information on the thumbnails view.

Thanks,
This is a good workaround, but a bit inconvenient for routine use. Also, a problem in case I select and move some images to another folder. It would be a lot easier if I could select an option for the thumbnails to be numbered. I work with large numbers of automatically acquired images and the best way to inspect them is making sequences (I do it with imageJ). Then, at some point, you stop the sequence and want to select the original image which is i.e., nb. 657. Hopefully the devs will take the suggestion into consideration! Merci Marie-Noëlle,
do you refer to Settings/Configure Digikam/Album View? I do not see any option for this. Just one to get the total number of images in the album. Agus

I might have misunderstood your question: I thought you wanted the name of the file, and this is one of the many info you can display using 'Configuration -> Configurer Digikam ... -> Affichage des albums'.
I'm not sure what information you're refering to as 'the nb.' In any case you can always use the simple search and put whatever you want in the search field, provided this information belongs to the file name, or description or whatever. And if you want the position of the picture in an album (what for?), you just have to select it, and it is displayed in the bottom left corner, alongside the filename. Hope this helps. Marie-Noëlle

No, but you can find out the number of the currently selected image by looking at the status line. There is no "Go to" like for going to a line in a text editor. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Thanks again. Sorry I puzzle you.
What you say is closer to what I need, but it would be more helpful having that number i.e. on top of the thumbnail. > And if you want the position of the picture in an album (what for?)
because I often must locate i.e. image nb 345. This is because I inspect a large nb of images as an animated sequence. Then I stop when I see something unexpected, but imageJ does not
display the name of the image in that frame, just the nb. in the sequence, which is equal to the nb. in the folder (=album). As an alternative, I can use xnview, which displays a numbered list, but I prefer digikam for other reasons.
