Hello,
on 4.1 I cannot find the option to switch off the scan for new items on start up. Is there a tweak in some file possible to disable the scan? I am trying to work via VPN Network and internet and the start-up time is really long with the scan.
Still I am very happy with Digikam, it gives me all the features I want, so again a big thank you!! BR Christoph _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Hi,
Yes, since 3.x release (if i remember), scan at startup option have been removed. In fact the scan with version < 3.x was completed during splash-screen and application taken a while to start. With 3.x, only directory scan is processed with splash-screen, and after digiKam init, the album contents is processed in background. You can see the progress indicator on bottom right of albumgui. Sound like in your context, you want to disable album registration in database when splas-screen is visible. Right ? Hey, correct it is the registration during the splash screen. But actually (as I am trying to work via VPN right now) without having the thumbs locally the performance is anyway not good enough.
I mean to say, I realize that even with a faster start up, I will not be able to work remotely. In case you have some tweaks I'm happy to try them, if not I have to work at home ;) BR Christoph 2014-07-12 11:04 GMT+02:00 Gilles Caulier <[hidden email]>: Hi, _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Perhaps Marcel can indicate if a tweak can be tune in code (scan is hardcoded of course), and if hack work, restore an option in Setup/Misc to turn on/off album scan at startup. Performances are not very good with USB drives either: my whole system more or less freezes during the whole albums scan process. Marie-Noëlle

I have a 150GB central storage for photos accessed trough different clients (cable and wireless). Where cabled network is no problem, wireless is next to unusable for some minutes after digikam start. A improvement here would be much appreciated.
