Jean-Fred JOLIMAITRE
Hello,

undefined symbol:
_ZN5Exiv213XmpProperties10registerNsERKNSt7__cxx1112basic_stringIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEEES8"
Should I upgrade or downgrade libkexiv 2 ?

Thanks

It's a binary compatibility broken with package libkexiv2. Report this problem to your distro packagers....

Thanks for the answer,

Should I understand that there is no other way to solve this problem than waiting for Ubuntu to update the package ?

You may try the newest version 4.14 which is available for Ubuntu 16.04
thanks to Philip Johnson.
See here:
https://launchpad.net/~philip5/+archive/ubuntu/extra?field.series_filter=xenial

This also includes several libraries and works (almost) fine for me.

Hope this helps.

@Gilles: any chance to get another bug fix release of the 4.x series?

I'm running Digikam on xubuntu 16.04 without problems, I'm pretty sure
xubuntu uses the same repositories as ubuntu.

When I run 'digikam --version' I see:-

    chris$ digikam --version
    Qt: 4.8.7
    KDE Development Platform: 4.14.16
    digiKam: 4.12.0
    chris$

But I've already used this PPA, but it didn't solve my problem...
Still searching...

Re: Digikam won't start after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04

Hi Mark

Tried : sudo apt-get install libkexiv2-11v5=4:15.08.2-xenial~ppa2
But still have the same problem :

digikam: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkexiv2.so.11: undefined symbol: _ZN5Exiv213XmpProperties10registerNsERKNSt7__cxx1112basic_stringIcSt11char_traitsIcESaIcEEES8_

Think I'll have to reinstall Ubuntu 16.04 if I want to use Digikam !

Thanks anyway...

Re: Digikam won't start after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04

christian graesser

Hi,
I switched to digikam5 from philip5 which works nicely with my upgraded Kubuntu 15.10 to 16.04. The version 4.14 worked but did not have the kipi plugins.
