Is there any binary release of Digikam packaged for MacOSX as a dmg
file (or alike) foreseen? Anybody working on this? I find the suggested Macports installation too involved for the average Mac user. Thanks Agus _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Well, i would to found somebody able to do it. It's not a simple task that could be delegate to a student for ex. Macports provide also a way to make a dmg from a fresh install, but last time that i do it, compilation cannot be completed... best Gilles Caulier _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Ooops! Sorry: I just realised that I had indeed installed it via Macports. But hey, considering the difficulties and utter frustration that I had faced when I first tried to install Digikam on Ubuntu a couple of years ago, this was a piece of cake!

Using the Macports is what I did and took for hours. Not looking
forward to do it again in the future... I think that, under these circumstances, stating that Digikam is available for MacOS is a bit misleading. For 99% of Mac users, Digikam is not really available. The answer to "Is Digikam available for Mac OSX?" should be "Not without hours of work on the installation" I regret it, many people would use Digikam on Mac if a dmg or pkg based installation was available. Angus, don’t give up yet! If you can’t get it going via Macports, install VirtualBox, set up your favourite Distro it and then simply install Digikam from the repo.

I receive all script to build digiKam OSX DMG package from a
contributor. I have not yet published scripts in source and tested it on my Macbook pro. I plan to do it later 4.10.0 which will be released in week. Please be patient.
