Digikam looses tags

Wolfgang Mader
Hi,

this is Digikam 3.4 on Arch Linux. My collection keeps loosing tags. First I
thought it I might be mistaken, but now I am sure, all tags on people are
missing. This includes face tags and normal tags. This is the first time I
start up Digikam 3.4, since it only landed this morning in Arch Linux repos.
I had the feeling that even Digikam 3.3 was loosing tags, but there I am
not sure.

I am using a mysql database running on a server. Files are also stored
remote. Nothing suspicious is going on on the server.

Please excuse that I have not done a lot of research on the matter. But I
am pretty concerned about this, and hence wanted to get this out early.
Perhaps s.o. has a suggestion for me.

Best,
Wolfgang

Re: Digikam looses tags

Wolfgang Mader
Hi again,

In the database digikam, the table Tags lists some but not all names of
people, which used to be sub-tags of the standard tag People. I can show them
when connecting to the database via sql command line. The strange thing is,
that the tag People which up to now was always auto-created by Digikam is
missing.

Those remaining tags have no icon 'Null' instead of a '0' which I guess
indicates the standard icon, and they are not visible in Digikam. Pictures
which used to be tagged by those tags simply have not tag any more, and if I
filter the tag list, I end up with an empty one.

Letting Digikam search the collection for faces does not return a single on,
and again, not even the standard tag 'Peoples' is created. The list of tags is
just empty.

Does anyone has an idea what is going on here. Is there any kind of
incompatibility between the tag database in Digikam 3.3 and 3.4? What should I
do to get my database back in a state I can trust it?

I can re-tag all images, but if I do so, I would prefer to know, how I trashed
my tags to not have to do it again.

Thank you for your help.
Best,
Wolfgang

P.s.: I moved all my tag into one folder. If I get images from s.o. which are
tagged already, I want to keep those tags separated from mine. Might this be
an issue for Digikam?

Also, some images are not shown if I filter for images w/o tags (->Digikam
thinks they have a tag), but there is no tag shown, and I can not remove any
using the context menu of the image.
