Hello,
I have been using Digikam for sometime now, and I find it great. you are doing a great job guys. I have got a list of wishes. In case you find some of them useful, tell me if you want me to add it in the bug tracking system. 1 / Easy undo/redo After applying a filter (usually the unsharp mask), I want to see what has been the effect of this filter, so I click on undo, redo, undo , etc. It would be easier imho to have a special key for that : When the user press down this key then it performs an "undo" and when he releases the key it performs "redo". 2 / Mass storage/PTP usability Even if I know that a camera uses mass storage i find it hard to find in the big list of supported cameras. - A first solution could be to put USB mass storage and PTP class at the beginning of the list - A second solution would be to remove USB mass storage and PTP class from the list and create a three choices widget, perhaps something like that : - 1 - My camera behaves like a removable drive - 2 - My camera uses the PTP protocol - 3 - My camera is in this list : - A third solution would be to put usb mass storage and ptp cameras in the list, but this is hard to maintain, i guess. 3 / Camera list It would be easier to have the camera list displayed as a tree sorted by brand/camera 4/ Add Copyright during download When pictures are downloaded from the camera ,it would be nice to have an option to have the copyright/license exif tags filled automatically. This could be a check box in the download dialog, with a widget to put the name and a list widget to choose between different license : No license, Creative Commons, etc... 5/ Photo group Allow to group photos as a pile. Some photos could be grouped automatically when downloading from the camera. For instance - photos which have been shot at a small time interval (less than 30 seconds), - photos which have been shot using bracketing - photos which have been shot in panoramic mode and which need to be stitched (the files are names sta_ , stb_, stc_ ... for some Canon cameras) 6/ Comparison When you select two or more picture in digikam allows to compare them using the same widget as the preview widget for color changes. 7/ Filter by aspect ratio When you need to chose a photo to print it in order to put it in a frame you need a special aspect ratio. First solution : add a sort by aspect ratio option Second solution : add a filter by aspect ratio tab 8/ Album tree I have quite many albums in my album tree. It would be easier imho if you had the possibility that when you double click on a album it would just display the children of this album like in a file browser. 9/ Merging saturation, contrast, brightness ... Perhaps it would be easier to have the five sliders : contrast, brightness, gamma, saturation, color in the same window ? i don't know if this make sense. 10/ Allow to display exif info in Digikam It would be nice if we could choose to display some exif tags under the thumbnails in the main Digikam window. For instance, iso, aperture, etc. my 10 cents. Julien _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |
Hi Julien,
I really appreciate your ideas. But posting it to our mailing list is the wrong way. Please open a report for every idea (one idea per report) at bko (bugs.kde.org). This is a bit more work for you to add your reports than just writing a mail, but guess how much work it is for us to implement it. BKO is our bug/wish tracking system, nothing gets lost. But your mail here will be forgetten before anyone starts to implement your ideas. Thanks! ...Jörn On Friday 03 February 2006 18:04, Julien Narboux wrote: > Hello, > > I have been using Digikam for sometime now, and I find it great. you are > doing a great job guys. > > I have got a list of wishes.
