Digikam-devel Digest, Vol 57, Issue 117 - akonadi & GSOC

Don't expect to much. I played only one day with it to get a feeling what is
akonadi and what it is for. Currently I can only list the albums and contents
of a specific user and show them as a collection inside akonadi. There has to
be a lot of more:
- a model for images/videos
- more plugins
- better configuration dialogs (with login)
- a decision where to store thumbnails (I think a attribute will be best)
- a item fetch and caching strategy (not download of all images on listing)
- ...

ok, it was just an idea. I can not rate what is good for GSOC and what not.

I think I should mention this:

It is just a tryout on my own. I do _not_ want to make the design decisions on
my own, I just followed the tutorials.

I'm not convinced yet to use Akonady to export something somewhere.

It sound a big piece of puzzle to do this job. But it just my viewpoint.

Personnaly, working to factoring all export/import tools
implementation sound better.
