It would be most useful to export the sorted photo album with comments from digiKam to a web-based photo album, maybe through integration with shalbum (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/shalbum/) so that one can easily share the pictures with friends and family over the web. If there's no local web-server, any user can easily set up a cron-job with ftp to publish on an external web-server if desired.
I'm interested in helping making this happen, but have nil programming background and thus don't know where to start.
