I have used f-spot a time or two, and I _really_ like it, mostly because of its versioning system. It is completely unusable because of stability issues, but the versioning system is so compelling that I keep on trying f-spot again and again. I think this versioning system is perfect. (as described in #17)
It is also possible, even feasible, to do edits in external editors within this versioning system. Let external editors be opened from within digikam on a separate copy, and the include this copy in the versioning system as usual.
I vote for f-spot-like versioning. It would really improve digikam! (Otherwise, digikam is my favourite photo management application out there)
