Hi,
The Welcome screen (when no album/no tag is selected) is nice, but I wonder if it won't be a bit confusing, espcially when the left sidebar is hidden. Would it be possible to have 2 differents welcome messages ? Maybe we could keep it + add informations about specific situation : 1) In albums : Add a few lines of bla-bla explaining the basics of albums : << Choose an album on the left or create a new one. You can..... ... Click on Albums to display the left sidebar... >> 2) Tags : Idem << Tags allow you to... ... Click on Tags to display the left sidebar... >> Yes, I know, you may think it's a bit redundant with the documentation or "tips of the day". Maybe, at least there could be one line saying "choose/create an album in the left sidebar" / "choose/create a tag in the left sidebar". What's your opinion ? -- Fabien _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I think than for 0.9.1, the both informations can be placed in the same/current welcome page. It's easy to do. Since you have a svn access, look into the file digikam/digikam/welcomepageview.cpp, especially in infoPage() method. All page strings content are here. Feel free to fix/update this page. After 0.9.1, we can provide differents welcome pages, not only for My Albums and My Tags view, but also for My Dates and My Search view. About Tips of Day, the file to update is digikam/tips. If you can update this one before 0.9.1 release... Feel free to fix/update this page. Fabien, when you have it already in your editor, I would suggest to remove the second sentence 'It is designed to organize your digital photograhs on your computer.' It's IMHO redundant. 1st sentence contains same info. Maybe even 'for the K Desktop Environment' can be striped. There's a big K icon on top and from bug reports I know that digikam is also used with Gnome, xfce etc desktop environment. > > After 0.9.1, we can provide differents welcome pages, not only for My Albums > and My Tags view, but also for My Dates and My Search view. Different welcome pages would be confusing IMHO. Better to have in the welcome page links that fires up khelpcenter, that loads the corresponding albums, tags, ..., section of the handbook. But having the welcome page for dates and search view too would be really great (even for 0.9.1 ;). > > About Tips of Day, the file to update is digikam/tips. If they would be summary pages (and not welcome pages) they wouldn't be confusing. Albums: You have 86 albums, with 4681 photos. List: {links} Tags: You have 57 tags. {tree} etc. m. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |
