Digikam and KDE 4.8?

Hi!

Anyone know if there are any problems installing/using KDE 4.8 (from
kubuntu backports) and using Digikam 2.5 from Philip's PPA?

I use my own PPA and the kubuntu teams PPA with KDE 4.8 and (k)ubuntu
11.10 without problems. Let me know if anyone have any other
experience with this combination.

I've been using Digikam 2.5 from Philip's PPA with KDE 4.8 since IIRC RC1 without any noticeable problems.

There is only the already known problem that firewire support collidates with
PTP support. So I have to blacklist all firewire kernel modules to get PTP
support for my cams.

the libdc1394-22 package from my "extra" PPA?

Hi Philip,

I think so:

sudo dpkg -l | grep libdc1394
ii  libdc1394-22       2.1.3-oneiric~ppa1      high level programming interface for IEEE1394 digital camera

digikam --version
Qt: 4.7.4
KDE: 4.8.00 (4.8.0appreciate
digiKam: 2.5.0

I have no crashes when not blacklisting only no notification from device-applet and no working when trying to launch a manual download.

I did the upgrade and everything went smooth. Haven't notice any problem so far.
