Hi,
I am normally a linux user, so I feel a real urge to apologize for opening a windows question. a little embarrassed even.. I have installed digikam on my wife's new laptop, so she could arrange her photos etc. Our camera generates "mov" files for videos, and on digikam they have no thumb, and when focusing on a mov file, all I am seeing is "an error has occurred with the media player". I did see some messages back saying something about a crash. I dont experience any crashes, just cant play them. Is there some way of fixing it? even to be able to open an external player on the file (dont even care about thumb so much) would be helpful. I tried to first google it and also searched on nabble, I hope I didnt miss some obvious solution, dont mean to spam this list. Thanks, Shlomi Using: KDE Frameworks 5.27.0 Qt 5.7.0 (built against 5.7.0) The windows windowing system |
Hi, It's simple. To manage video as photo with digiKam, just use pre release 5.4.0. This one will have all relevant codecs to play MOV files. No need extra codecs to install as with 5.3.0. This version will arrive with more than 140 bug fixes : A precompiled installer for Windows is available in GDrive here : Note that 5.4.0 is able to generate as wel all video thumbnails under Windows (and OSX), 5.3.0 was unable to do it, even if extra codecs are installed on your computer. 5.4.0 Windows installer will also include Exiv2 library version 0.26 which arrive with more than 200 bug fixes, This version is not yet released. This library used to manage metadata from files in low level, will be able to handle better video files. VoilĂ ... Happy new year. My best.
