Digikam 4.2.0 Freeze ...

Jean-Pierre Moreau
Hello,

When an image is selected and I hit "properties", digikam freeze is this usual ?
(i am under Windows 7, 64 bits).
Due to a bad manipulation (?), I have lost the main menu, I didn't find the proper operation to revert... any ideas ?

Thanks a lot for your cooperation.

Jean-Pierre

What do you mean by freeze exactly ?

Can you details all your installation, where are located your
collections, which kind of image files you use, which database type,
etc...

Re: Digikam 4.2.0 Freeze ...

Jean-Pierre Moreau
Hello Gilles,

By "freeze" I mean that digikam display the required information but get completely stuck afterward. The only solution is to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and to kill the process digikam32.exe.
The digikam collection is on D:\photos, is made of jpeg photos.
The digikam installation is made from digikam-installer-4.2.0-win32-2.exe, with all th standard options...
For your information, I desinstalled version 4.2.0, installed version 3.4.0 and got the same problem. Thus I reinstalled version 4.2.0...

Jean-Pierre.

Re: Digikam 4.2.0 Freeze ...

I also use a Win7 computer for testing, and i cannot reproduce the
dysfunction here.

D:/ is a local hardrive ?

Where is stored your digiKam database ?

Did you uninstalled previous version before to install 4.2.0 ?

Perhaps something is wrong in your digiKam config file stored in your
home directory. File is located at
~/AppData/Roaming/.kde/share/config.

Rename file as .old and restart digiKam. First Run assistant will
appear. After collection scan, try to reproduce the problem.

Alternative is to use a new fresh account to run digiKam and try to
reproduce the dysfunction.

Hello,

Answer in the text below:

D:/ is a local hardrive ?
>>> Yes.
Where is stored your digiKam database ?
>>> I don't know, probably the value choosen by the assistant. see below...
Did you uninstalled previous version before to install 4.2.0 ?
>>> Yes, 3.2.0 then 3.4.0, I didn't notice the problem before.
Perhaps something is wrong in your digiKam config file stored in your
home directory. File is located at
~/AppData/Roaming/.kde/share/config.
Rename file as .old and restart digiKam. First Run assistant will
appear. After collection scan, try to reproduce the problem.

>>> this solve the problem... I also stored the db. into D:Photos.
Thank you so much !
