Digikam 4.0 Beta on openSUSE 13.1

carl33914

Version 4.0.0-beta4 Using KDE Development Platform 4.13.0 arrived yesterday.

So far, looks great but one issue I note:

  1. I inserted an SD card into my system, received pop-up and selected open with Digikam from the system
  2. Digikam starts, with main and Importer windows open.
  3. I was able to select photos and import to my Digikam database.

But

  • I am unable to delete photos from my SD card
    • There are no delete (or move to trash) options showing on drop-down menus.
    • If I select one photo and right click, there is a delete option on the right click menu, but it does nothing.

And

  • I note that import file renaming appears 'fixed', no more unnecessary _1 on file names when using the {unique} modifier.
    • WooHoo!

And perhaps I should add that I see this information when Selecting "Device-Information) on the Import Window

-----
Mounted Camera
driver for USB/IEEE1394 mass storage cameras and Flash disk card readers.

Title: Images on /var/run/media/carl/CANON_DC
Model: directory browse
Port: Fixed
Path: /var/run/media/carl/CANON_DC
UUID: be52d0d5-087c-4a3a-aa5f-3dac83296baa

Thumbnails: yes
Capture image: no
Delete items: yes
Upload items: yes
Create directories: yes
Delete directories: yes

-----

So it appears the device is allowing deletion, that is not the issue

One additional issue I see:

  1. Select (click) Image in Main window
  2. Select Image-Rename on the tool bar
  3. In the drop down menu below the window listing the selected images, I can see the cached custom naming pattern I use (a custom date format), presummably remembered from my last renaming session, but I can't click to select it and use it.

This should be fixed now since 20th of March, though might be that your
version was released before that fix. Sorry for the inconvenience...

Sorry, this is probably important info to add:

Beta 4    Build date: Apr 21 2014 (target: release)

Hmm, now comparing dates perhaps fix didn't propagate as intended
