i just change from Ubuntu to Kubuntu because I really appreciate Ksoftware (digiKam, Kile etc.) My problem : digiKam is unstable under Kubuntu whereas it was very stable under Ubuntu ! It closes suddenly very often, and I cannot report bugs (insufficient information) --

It problably due to this bug :
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339144 resolve and reported as UPstream to packager. Problem is in libkexiv2. It's fixed in current implemntation from git/master and must be backported to current KDEGraphics component in distro. I'm not quite sure, but may be Catherines problems are caused by a
damaged sqlite version, as reported here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329697 In the mail subject she reports using digikam 3.5. I guess the problems with libkexiv2 are first reported for dk 4.3 Best regards, Jan On 09/25/2014 01:42 PM, Gilles Caulier wrote: > It problably due to this bug : > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339144 > > resolve and reported as UPstream to packager. yes, sqlite problem sound more relevant. It's also an UPSTREAM bug
located in libsqlite. About libkexiv2 problem, it's about to extract preview from metadata. In 4.3.0, i add a preview extract call like this for thumbnail to support DNG files. A bug report have been filed about. This has raise an in-deep bug in libkexiv2 quickly, because thumbs generator is used most of time. But, preview extraction is also used in ... preview mode (F3). In certain case, this can crash older digiKam version. Now, libkexiv2 is fixed well...
