Digikam 2.7 and libgphoto2 2.5.0

Philip Johnsson
Hi

Just noticed that libgphoto2 2.5.0 have been released upstream and
states that they have made some various API changes. Have anyone
looked into this or know if it should be safe to build Digikam 2.7
using the latest version of libgphoto2 2.5.0 or if it's best to stay
with libgphoto2 2.4.x for a while?

/Philip

I still here with Gphoto 2.4.11 here. I don't know what are changed in
API and if digiKam compile fine with it.

Gphoto is a tiedous part. I recommend to take time before to change on
2.5. Way some minor release to be sure.

Where is the changelog of Gphoto 2.5 ?

They don't seem to update a a changelog but have a NEWS file is here:
http://gphoto.org/news/

They state it like this there too "This release is binary incompatible
and also has some API incompatibilities, your applications will need
to be rebuilt and perhaps adjusted.". That's why I ask first so I
don't introduce a lot of problem in my packages on my PPA if that is
know to give problems in advance.

I see some sensible changes in API. We need to check compilation and
runtime. Please wait before to update...

If there is some compilation failure, i'm sure that somebody will
report it to bugzilla. It's time to wait...
