Digikam 1.2.0 - how to install the kipi-plugin

Alcachofa
Hello,

I'm new and I speak English poorly, so you want-excuse me.

I installed version 1.2.0 on Ubuntu digikam Lucid.
However, I can not install the kipi-plugin 1.2.0 ( http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/512 )

I'd like to know how to compile the sources. Who can post here the shell script that would do this.

Thank you.
Pierre

to checkou tcode and compile, look there :

http://www.digikam.org/drupal/download/KDE4

For precompiled package, ask to your distro team.

Re: Digikam 1.2.0 - how to install the kipi-plugin

Hi,

There's a PPA repository which contain both digikam and Kipi plugins in v.1.2.

There's already a PPA repository which was given here, but, if I remember, it contains only Digikam...

https://launchpad.net/~philip5/+archive/kde44

It needs, if I trust what is mentionned, KDE 4.4, so it should be all right with Lucid Lynx.

Anyway, if you don't want to use this repository, you can try to download only the deb package manually from the launchpad PPA web page.

Unfortunately, there is no way yet to report kipi-plugins version in
digiKam About dialog.

Open a tool as RAWConverter or FlickrExport for example, and go to
Help/About button entry from dialog.

In which one PPA ? This one effectively contain both Digikam and Kipiplugin.

When the other PPA was given, it doesn't contain Kipiplugin, but it might change now...

Ok, I though you speak about this repository :

Which was given here too.

Re: Digikam 1.2.0 - how to install the kipi-plugin

So ... I've now installed 1.2.0 versions for both Digikam and KipiPlugins BUT Digikam doesn't seem to find my pictures! All the albums have zero photos though my Images directory hasn't changed and is full of pictures.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Re: Digikam 1.2.0 - how to install the kipi-plugin

Huh...

May be I had the same matter on Karmic... I use the PPA Kde experimental repository to have KDE 4.4, but effectively, I had this kind of problem (and in fact, any tentative too had a new album was unsuccessful because KDE file manager doesn't work properly...). I believe I have to install all Kubuntu desktop and restart Ubuntu, and it has worked again (but may be it's just the restart which is in cause here ?)

Which distrib do you use ? Karmic or Lucid beta2?

I have recently installed Lucid on my Laptop, and not yet installed Digikam, so I'll try this evening.

I'll try to restart to see if it works ...

Worst thing is it has worked: I did run Digikam 1.2.0 for some time, but messed a bit with the installation/reinstallation of the PikiPlugins, ended up with the wrong version of Digikam (1.1.0) and did it all over again :(

Ok, I just finish to try this PPA repository, but with Lucid.

I keep my album, and photos are rightly displayed.

The only matter for me, is kipi-plugin basically can't be update due to a
missing dependencies.

In fact, libcv1, libcvaux1 and libhighgui1 are missing from Lucid
repository, there are libcv4, libcvaux4 and libhighgui4... I don't known
why, but I download the Deb package from launchpad and installed them
manually and it's works fine.

For, Karmic, do you have use kubuntu backports repository mentionned in
dependencies of the PPA kde44 one ?

I'm not sure I understand your question.
I only copied/pasted these two lines in the Synaptic repository settings, and that did the trick:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/philip5/kde44/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/philip5/kde44/ubuntu karmic main

I downloaded the deb for the KIPI 1.2.0 and I have a dependency unsatisfiable: kdebase-runtime (>= 4:4.3.95) (my installed version is 4.2).
Where can I find the updated version?

Thanks in advance!

Anyway, if you don't want to use this repository, you can try to download only the deb package manually from the launchpad PPA web page.
