Devel with Kdevelop

Bugzilla from paurullan@bulma.net
 hi!

Right now I am coding with emacs/vim + make in the command line. I
would like to give a try Kdevelop but  cannot find the correct way to
config the building system. Does anybody use it? How does it look
like?

  cheers!

Gilles used to put into svn the project file, iirc digikam.kdevelop.
Open that one and you should get it working, then you can custumize
your options....

Yes, when I imported the project with kdevelop the program itself founded the
file and begin to work. Even that I have to manually tweak the run and
configure settins, which do not look too good. For instance, I run the main
program and the 0.9.3 splash appears, even that the about says it is 0.9.4 :D

How do you people have it configured?

It would be pretty interesting to write a few lines in the
http://www.digikam.org/?q=contrib page explaining how to get kdevelop with the
project.

Totally agree. You not the first one to ask few tips about to use kdevelop. I you feel to write some words about, send me by mail the content, i will patch web site page...

I use Kdevelop to hack and write code in digiKam. I never use another text editor.

To edit new code from scratch, i never use Class editor. it too complex from me. I prefer using existing template from another part.

To hack (the most important), gdb interface is perfect. Same for Valgrin.

To search/replace something in code, recursive search working very well.

I always use file navigator, never classes navigator...

Best Gilles

I did not make myself clear. During the last few days I was working from the
command line with manual make && make install I _had_ the new splash. It is
since I started to work from kdevelop that it did not load. This is why I
tought I may have bad configurations.

What configuration do you have in the run, make and configure project options?

Look here :

All taken with Kdevelop 3.4.1

have you set up LD_LIBRARY_PATH/PATH variables and run kbuildsycoca before
running digikam by any chance?
