Deleted images not in Recycle Bin

I am a new user to digiKam. When I delete an image within digiKam, this deleted image is not in the Recycle Bin. What am I doing wrong? Needless to say if I delete images using the file explores surely enough this fiel appears in the recycle bin. Thanks
