Hi,
After testing DNGConverter with ubuntu 9.04 (kipi 0.20), ubuntu 9.10 (kipi 0.50) and windows digikam (kipi 0.20 only) i'm completely lost about this... My olympus *.orf files (e-420) get converted flawlessly retaining all my valuable exif metadata including makernotes and all... But there's strange behaviour sometimes when opening those converted orf to dng with almost every application (tested digikam image editor, rawtherapee, lightzone...) the developed image is full black with some lighter areas containint green colours. I've already tested same file conversion with adobe dng converter and doesn't show this problem (although adobe converter doesn't retain my makernotes with focusing data, etc). As i said, not happening with every *.orf file, but i cannot guess why. I've searched all over the net last 2 months but... nothing to clarify me the problem. I can provide files (orf, kipi converted and/or adobe converted), just ak and i'll upload somwhere. Thankyou very much, Goose. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Please, open a file in KDE bugzilla about this subject, it's better to archive and follow. I've reported bug and uploaded test files, thanks for the advice.
Bug report: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204437 Files: http://www.flasherodepalo.com/digikam/ Maybe i should stay using only my orf files... but is so useful using digikam metadata, tags and ratings when opening files with other apps.... Thanks again, Goose. Hi again,
As a side note relating this extrange behaviour with dng conversion, i noticed one important thing here with both tools (dngconverter from kipi and dng converter from adobe)... When i use the adobe tool, some olympus metadata (mainly makernotes) got lost (or moved dont know here), but with kipi converter all remain in place... According this post http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/373#comment-17882 and other sites i've read over the net... adobe converted is supposed to save all that metadata... is it a lie? is hidden somewhere into dng? P.S.-Is not into dng xmp/iptc tags, or i haven't been able to find it!!
