Crash at startup on Mac

Charles Custard
I’ve just installed the Yosemite version (and also tried the Mavericks version) but the app crashes at startup after displaying the loading tools message.

I’ve restarted the Mac, uninstalled the app and reinstalled and as I said tried the same with the Mavericks version – always the same result.

This is a shame as I was quite excited about a good alternative to Lightroom.

Hello Charles. Please don’t discount such a great program yet. The fault that you’re experiencing has nothing to do with Darktable. Something else on your system is surely amiss because there are many people, including me, who run the software successfully on their Macs. To note: I operate Darktable 2.0.2 on El Captitan 10.11.3 running on a 2013 MBPr. I had no problem running any of the earlier versions either (both DT and the OS)

* the ONLY thing that I have a problem with is systematic at this point: The inability to tether my D7100. Until Nikon’s new SDK (released in December, I’ve heard) can be incorporated into DT, everybody is likewise affected

Re: Crash at startup on Mac

Charles Custard
Thanks for the response.

I really do want this to work but I have tried everything I know.  To be clear, I am talking about Digikam and I’m not sure about the relationship with Darktable.

I downloaded the pkg file as the other options to install seemed a bit confusing to a non-tekkie like me.

I’m running ElCap 10.11.4 on a 2015 MBP and have no issues with any other software.  Plus I closed all other apps (that I could see) last time I tried Digikam hoping that once it fired up first time it would be fine subsequently.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Charles.

Re: Crash at startup on Mac

Oops. I’m on both lists!  Nevertheless. I also run digiKam without any issues on my system.

Since I’m also a “non-techie”, the only support that I can provide is moral. Hopefully somebody else will chime in.

* Having said the above, I had at one point installed dK through Macports. I then found a dmg which I had subsequently also installed. The 2 were incompatible on my system so, I got rid of the former. The dmg version didn’t work properly until I cleaned out all last remnants of the Macport install.
