Hi,
I am interested in contributing to the project. It would be great if a mentor could guide me.

Hi,
I can mentor-ship you, if you share your skill and your coding preferences. I have some pending tedious subjects to code in digiKam or kipi-plugins... I have done some amount of coding using Qt(C++) and i am also fine with using python. A little time to get acquainted with the new libraries if any will be sufficient.

All digiKAm & co source code are in KDE/Qt/C++ Gilles Caulier _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

I haven't done courses in any of these but i know threads, GUI Design (using Qt). If you could suggest i would learn the imagery part.

Parthasarathy,
Sorry for this delay, i have been busy with family. It's Christmas time here (:=)))... I propose to start, a little job in mediawiki plugin. This tool is dedicated to post images in mediawiki based web services, as wikipedia. This tool is currently disabled here, due to some missing feature. What do you think about to work on it ? Gilles,
Happy Holidays, and yes i am interested in working on it.

Parthasarathy,
Look at this line from kipi-plugins : https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/graphics/kipi-plugins/repository/revisions/master/entry/CMakeLists.txt#L449 ... just uncomments these lines to working on. this will enable mediawiki tool for compilation. For multiple reasons, this tool is not able to be used properly in production, especially with wikipedia. This tool use a shared library named libmediawiki here : https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/libs/libmediawiki There is nothing special to do in this lib. Only plugin need to be patched to support some missing features, descibed in this bugzilla entry : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206842#c11 Guillaume Paumier work at wikipedia organization. You can talk with him through this bugzilla entry for details. In this comment #11, he explain all missing features to switch this tool in production. Also, from my viewpoint, the site manager is very basic in this tool and must be improved. Url are hardcode in tool. It's better to be able to edit url of remote web service and to store last used url in kipirc config file. To work on this subject, i recommend to use git/master code of digiKam software compilation, where kipi-plugins and libmediawiki are present : https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/graphics/digikam/digikam-software-compilation Follow README file to checkout all the rest of the code. To review your code, please post a patch against git/master in bugzilla entry #206842. Me and Guillaume we will take a look. Let's me hear if you need more information.
