Connecting Samsung Galaxy S3 to Digikam?

Kim
My dh has a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I wanted to download photos from that
using Digikam.  I enabled the Camera (PTP) option under it's USB PC
connections setting and Digikam reconizes it as a camera. But when you
select it to import photos nothing happens.
Does anyone know how to get this working with Digikam?
I'm using DK version 3.0 and Bodhi Linux 2 (biased on Ubuntu)

Thanks,
Kim

Ah I think your right.  If I run Digikam from the terminal I get this:

QSqlDatabasePrivate::removeDatabase: connection 'ConnectionTest' is
still in use, all queries will cease to work.
digikam(8869)/digikam (core): Failed to get information for the listed
camera
digikam(8869)/digikam (core): Failed to detect camera with GPhoto2 from
Solid information

Bugzilla from gaylord.doirat@gmail.com

Hello, Galaxy s3 should have USB mass storage mode. This is working well in digiKam.

Recent versions of Android, including the version shipped with the galaxy s3 (and all of its later updates) lacks a mass storage mode.  It is possible to get it back if you are rooted, but for ordinary users it is not possible to use it add a mass storage device. .
