Compiling digiKam for Windows KDE

pshute
I'd like to compile the latest version to run under Windows, but I'm having trouble with the instructions at http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/402

These instructions mention KDE 4.1.2, and we're up to 4.3.4 now, so I'm wondering if my troubles are that these instructions don't work for the latest version of KDE.  The excellent set of screenshots suggests this might be true.

Firstly, the instructions say to install in Developer mode.  My installer doesn't offer this mode, so I guess I should use Package Manager mode?

Then I'm told to select MinGW compiler on the same dialog.  The screenshot shows a choice of MinGW or MSVC.  My installer offers me a choice of  MinGW, MinGW4 or MSVC.  I tried each of these, but none have all the suggested components available - each one has something missing.

Is anyone able to tell me how to do this compilation?  Are there some more recent instructions anywhere?

Re: Compiling digiKam for Windows KDE

Bugzilla from meldavid@acc.umu.se
I am compiling under Windows with 4.3.4 using MinGW4. For the compiler I
use the packages specified in
http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/kdesupport/emerge/portage/testing/mingw4/mingw4-4.4.0.py?revision=1026444&view=markup.
Select all the Devel-packages that is needed, I have all under
kdesupport and win32libs plus KDE-core-packages. Then I use a slightly
modified version of the bootstrap.bat from the project-directory in the
digikam-svn.

I hope this will help you.

/David

Re: Compiling digiKam for Windows KDE

Thanks, but no, unfortunately.  I'm completely new to all this stuff, and there seems to be a bit too much to learn all at once.

I ended up completely uninstalling it, and reinstalling it with beta 5.  It chose MSVC compiler mode by default, so I left it like that (is that normal, or did it somehow remember me trying it from before the uninstall?).  Now I don't have the option of chosing anything else when I try to add anything to it.

Hopefully the 1.0.0 final release will be included in the stable KDE releases soon and I can stop worrying about this.  In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions about what I should try, please let me know.

Yes, it will, I will make binaries as soon as it is released.
