Canon Powershot S100 raw files not recognized

tosca
I just tried to open a .CR2 file from my new Canon Powershot S100 in Digikam and Darktable. In both programs, the image is heavily magenta-tinted.
I guess this new camera is not yet in the libraries. Any solution for that? Or should I stick to JPEG until the camera is properly recognized.

Thanks for your advice,
Marie-Noëlle

Which version of digikam are you using and what version of the library
libraw does it say your digikam use in digikams "components
information"?

I don't have a canon s100 but according to libraw changelog support
for canon s100 was introduced in libraw 0.14.4 and got updated color
data fixes in libraw 0.14.5. Make sure that digikam use the latest
version (for now) of libraw that also comes bundled with digikam 2.5.0
in the libkdcraw library that should be cutting edge from digikam to
have this support.

Regards,

Philip

Re: Canon Powershot S100 raw files not recognized

Currently, I have Digikam 2.4.1 and libraw 0.13.5.
I've just checked, there doesn't seem to be an update yet for Fedora 16.

Re: Canon Powershot S100 raw files not recognized

Gilles Caulier-4
Marie,

libraw is include into libkdcraw. I introduced libraw 0.14.4 with
implementation from kdegraphics/libs into git/master.

If you compile digiKam yourself, use libkdcraw included with digiKam
SC, the last libkdcraw+libraw is here.

Else, only libkdcraw included in next KDE 4.7.x release will include
libraw 0.14.4

Re: Canon Powershot S100 raw files not recognized

Thanks for the information, Gilles, but I'd rather wait for the availability of the new package.
I don't want to spend too much time on the issue (I still have to recover my hidden grouped pictures) and, anyway, I don't intend to shoot 'serious' pictures with the PowerShot in the next few weeks.

Re: [Darktable-users] Canon Powershot S100 raw files not recognized

You can speed up the process of getting your camera fully supported by sending RAW images to them.
They have a web page where you can upload the .CR2 from your camera.  As to "what kind of image?"
this is what I was told:

.../...

If the S100 does different aspect ratios (square, 3:2, 4:3, 16:9 perhaps also described as
square, normal, panoramic) those would be helpful too.

The Darktable team asked for a RAW file for each white-balance setting of the camera, so I have uploaded 9 different RAW files you can find here:  http://www.marie-noelle-augendre.com/fichiers/Darktable/
Different ratios are irrelevant for RAW files, as they are available for JPEG only.

Let me know it you need something else.
