Several months ago I installed the then-latest Digikam (0.10.x) on the
wife's computer. It was found that that version of Digikam would not work with the version of libmarble then installed: 4.3.0. Downgrading to libmarble 4.2.2 allowed Digikam to once again show the photos. We have now updated the system again, and Digikam 1.0.0 beta3 is installed. Once again, we cannot see the photos. However, this time I am unable to downgrade libmarble: doing so removes digikam. Additionally, I cannot seem to reinstall digikam without upgrading libmarble first. What can we do? I am using Kubuntu 9.04 with the KDE 4.3 PPA: https://launchpad.net/~digikam-experimental/+archive/ppa After fighting with this, I also installed the digikam-experimental PPA but since it does not provide libmarble it did not make any difference in our ability to see the photos: https://launchpad.net/~digikam-experimental/+archive/ppa Please advise on how to get the pictures shown. Thanks in advance. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Why don't you just update your libmarble? I also installed KDE 4.3 from the kubuntu backports ppa and I can see pictures in the digikam packaged. Did you run digikam in gdb to see which component is causing the problem? > After fighting with this, I also installed the digikam-experimental > PPA but since it does not provide libmarble it did not make any > difference in our ability to see the photos: > https://launchpad.net/~digikam-experimental/+archive/ppa This ppa is terribly outdated, you better delete it. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

See this post, in which some guy named "Tobias Schula" :) correctly suggests that I downgrade libmarble to see the photos: http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/digikam-users/2009-June/007738.html > I also installed KDE 4.3 from the > kubuntu backports ppa and I can see pictures in the digikam packaged. I will disable it again, but it was not the problem as the problem occured _before_ I added it (adding it was an attempt at a solution). Browsing TFA I see in another thread that one had to rebuild Digikam
in order to get it to show photos. Is there a way to avoid that? I have had the worst of luck building Digikam in the past, us silly ME majors are cursed when it comes to CS issues. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Sorry, I sent the link to delete the file instead of the link to
download it... The correct link is http://dl.free.fr/jOurCPdn5 Dotan Cohen wrote: > 2009/8/27 Bruno Leon <[hidden email]>: > >> I've recompiled dikigam for jaunty and this works for me. >> You can get the deb here: >> >> http://dl.free.fr/rm.pl?h=qZIOJj1Wu&i=17115877&s=ZIOJj1WuORS2r4gdvQEEjk2PsQN7pPf2 >> >> > > I cannot seem to download from there. Might I ask you how you created that package, so that I might be able to create one in the future? If it was all command line, then even just seeing your history file would help me learn.
