I have added a Services-Menu like in Dolphin. So you can select an application
from the list for the associated mimetypes. If the program is not listed, you
can also open some custom command.
This is the KDE default dialog for opening custom applications.
Does this somehow solve the problem here?
The services menu is only found in current SVN I guess, not sure if it was
released with 0.10 already.
