when accesing to my nokia 5800 xpressmusic via usb ptp
digikam list only my photos

my photos are in a folder and my videos are in another folder in my smartphone
is it normal for usb ptp (<=> ptp is not concerned by video folder) or is it a
bug ?

PTP driver is ... gphoto2. This one list, typically contents from camera...

If you use a memory card reader, where digiKam driver is used, the problem
still the same ?

Well, it's simple : don't use your camera as memory card reader, and try a
dedicated memory card reader, connected to USB and running with Usb Mass
Storage (as an USB key)

when i say digikam lists only photos i want to say more accurately : when using
import tool
then this import tool only lists photos.

name of the folders in my smartphone :
- Clips vidéos
- Photos

i can acces to my smartphone with umsp, i will try

i selected in my smartphone the umsp
then
i plug it to the pc

with dolphin no pb to access to content of the card we see well the folders
Photos and Videos (not Clips video)

with digikam
when accessing "disque usb S60 à /media/CDF2-6BE2/"
the import tool is launched
then freezes during several minute
then
digikam crashes or lists all the photos and videos

note : no preview thumbnail for video (it is an mp4 one), very old pb (true
also with usb ptp)

In UMS video thumbs are generated by KDELibs through a ffmpeg codec.

In PTP, Gphoto2 driver do not support video thumb.

What's the crash trace ?

i tried several time, i can't reproduce crash

résumé :
ptp : digikam import tool lists all photos but not the videos
umsp : digikam import tool lists all photos and videos

perhaps an enhancement would be good : only list photos from "Photos" folder
and only list videos from "Videos" folders because the background, the icons
and other images are not very useful

The only improvement that i see is to support video media with Gphoto2 PTP
driver. Please report this problem to Gphoto2 bugzilla

or use mtp : the mtp protocol is concerned with videos, isn't it
