Summary: Indication that there are multiple photo versions. Product: digikam Version: unspecified Platform: Unlisted Binaries OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Albums GUI AssignedTo: [hidden email] ReportedBy: [hidden email] Currently there is no way for the user to see that a photo may have multiple versions. It would be nice if the thumbnail border of photos having multiple versions were to appear as a stack, to indicate the presence the other versions. Dotan Cohen <[hidden email]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #2 from Dotan Cohen <kde-2011 08 dotancohen com> 2012-02-16 15:01:20 --- No, Gilles, the user looks only at the thumbnails. See also this blog post, where a user (I think that you know the guy!) describes the situation as "photos disappearing": http://scribblesandsnaps.wordpress.com/2012/02/15/prevent-photos-in-digikam-from-disappearing/ To be honest, I feels as if I am "loosing" something with Versioning, but I did not know why. That is why I don't use it, despite anticipating the feature for a long time. Now I know what the "loss" is, it is the knowledge that the original still exists and can be easily accessed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #3 from mutlu inek <mutlu_inek yahoo de> 2012-02-16 15:57:29 --- Alternatively, an overlay icon similar to the one for symbolic links would be a big help.

Mark Hayes <[hidden email]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #4 from Mark Hayes <mark_hayes_1973 hotmail com> 2012-02-27 12:40:21 --- I agree - the information needs to be visual. You should see the thumbnail photo and know from the icon that this is a photo with multiple versions. A stacked icon, where it looks like a bunch of slides stacked one on top of the other (and with the most recent version visible in the icon) will indicate this easily. That way, you don't need to look at two places on the screen to find out the information that you need. You can deduce it immediately from the looking at the photo thumbnail. Problem solved.

--- Comment #5 from Andi Clemens <[hidden email]> --- I checked the code for the imagedelegate and we already have something in there. Why is it disabled? I just enabled it and it looks something like this... see screenshot. Gilles, Marcel, why was the code disabled? --- Comment #8 from Marcel Wiesweg <[hidden email]> --- I believe the layout broke at some point, particularly if the photo is grouped as well. Not sure anymore. I'd like a better metaphor somehow, the icon does not really tell me what it means. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |
