[Bug 287099] New: Digikam crash when using facerecognition

Bugzilla from martinjohnson@tele2.se
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287099

Summary: Digikam crash when using facerecognition
           Product: digikam
           Version: 2.2.0
          Platform: openSUSE RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: [hidden email]
        ReportedBy: [hidden email]

Application: digikam (2.2.0)
KDE Platform Version: 4.7.2 (4.7.2) "release 5"
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Operating System: Linux 3.1.0-1.2-desktop i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 12.1 (i586)"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Im using Digikam in swedish, so I don't know the english labels. Sorry.
I have made a search for faces in my photocollction and get a lot of faces with
tag "personer" -> "okända" ("unknown"?). When I select a bunch of faces, from
five to fifteen, using + in upper left corner of picture or selecting by
CTRL-left click i often get a crash like this.
Sometimes, I can select faces and type in a nametag, or selecting an existing
nametag and get these faces to move from "okända" ("unknown"?).

The crash can be reproduced some of the time.

-- Backtrace:
Application: Digikam (digikam), signal: Segmentation fault

Application: digikam (2.2.0)
KDE Platform Version: 4.7.3 (4.7.3) "release 10"
Operating System: Linux 3.1.0-1.2-desktop i686
Distribution: "openSUSE 12.1 (x86_64)"

I can confirm that it happens to me as well whenever I select more than one
image under People/Unknown with <ctrl>+left click. Sometimes it is possible to
select more than two images but quite often selecting the second image crashes
digikam.

Sorry for the delay. I had to compile 2.3.0 myself (the openSUSE package does
not work).

The above mentioned behavior is still reproducible on 2.3.0.

I don't know about 2.4, but the crash still happens under 2.4.1

I checked the above stated problem by martin with digikam version 2.4.1 and it
didn't crash ,i guess martin might have run the face recognition process in the
background while he was selecting the photos and the background process
crashed. It would be helpful if martin could provide some info.

Since version 2.5.0 (KDE 4.8.1), Digikam is not crashing anymore when selecting
several images under People/Unknown.
