Gilles,
My current system is as follows:
digikam v4.13.0
KDE v4.14.8
Kubuntu v3.19.0-30

I performed the following two tests using digikam on my laptop and an external
USB drive containing my external collection:

1. Within the digikam program, I created a folder on the laptop and copied 18
RAW photos to this folder. All photos had tag and other user information. I
then selected this folder and dragged it to the external collection. When I
released the left mouse I selected the Move Here from the drop down menu. All
photos were moved to the external drive. When I opened the external folder to
view its contents, the first photo was shown. I then right clicked on the
folder and selected Refresh. The additional photos were shown. All tags and
user information was present and accounted for.

2.  I repeated the above steps using another folder with 50 photos. After the
Move was completed to the external drive, I clicked on the external folder and
again the first photo was shown. I then refreshed the folder and all photos
were shown. All tags and user information was accounted for.

The new  digikam version appears to work correctly.
Please let me know if I can run additional tests.
Bert

--- Comment #18 from Bert Broekstra <[hidden email]> ---
Gilles,
My digiKam was updated to v4.14.0 using ppa:philip5/extra this past weekend.

Today I ran the move folder test again as follows:
1. Within the digikam program I created a folder on the laptop and copied 18
RAW photos to this folder. All photos had tags and user information. I then
selected this folder and dragged it to the external USB HD collection. All
photos were moved to the external drive. When I opened the folder to view its
contents, all the photos were present but only one photo had the proper tags &
user information. I then clicked on Album->Refresh, but this made no
difference.

2. I then repeated the above test using a folder with 50 photos. All photos
were transferred but none of the photos had tags or user information.

3. I then repeated the above test using a folder with 100 photos. All photos
were transferred and only one photo had tags & user information.

The test results I experienced today contradicts the successful conditions I
had a few weeks ago using digikam version 4.13.0. Unfortunately I do not have a
second computer running the older version of digikam for a side by side
comparison.

Let me know if there additional tests I can run.
