[Bug 279556] New: Editing captions in metadata editor sets the exif image creation date to file modification date

Bugzilla from stefan.ca.h@gmail.com
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=279556

Summary: Editing captions in metadata editor sets the exif
image creation date to file modification date
           Product: digikam
           Version: 2.0.0
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Metadata
        AssignedTo: [hidden email]
        ReportedBy: [hidden email]

Version:           2.0.0 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS:                Linux

I use the metadata editor to change image captions. The new format of the
editor puts EXIF in the first tab. When I change caption there and apply, the
image creation date is changed to the date and time of that change. I think
that is incorrect. When I do the change in the IPTC tab, the date is not
changed, i.e. it is kept as the original camera date.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Use the metadata editor and change caption in the EXIF tab. Then apply. The
image date is changed.

Actual Results:
See the steps above.

Expected Results:
See the details

There is an option in digiKam metadata settings dialog to change this
behavior...
