WHen the system crashed I was importing images from the SD card (mounted on a
USB adaptor) into DigiKam

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Crash in KFileMetaInfo/Strigi.

As far as I know, all occurrences of this API were removed, so I dont know

Yes i personally removed all occurrence. So i recommend to try 2.0.0 final
release. It's must be fixed...

Else, do you have video files on your SD card. Perhaps it's video thumbnailizer
from KDE...

Some updates on this bug. It is only evident when I try to import into the
existing album which did contain move files, but there were none being
imported. I'll retest when I can get Digikam 2.0 - currently on Mint so it's
painful getting current packages. I'll stick with Mint until I can confirm this
is fixed in 2.0, then I'm off for a new distro.

I think crash is done by KDE video thumbnailizer. Can you reproduce the crash
if you show camera contents in Dolphin ?
