as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, RAW ?

Please, see attached file. That was what I was talking about. I (and other
people) usually save some versions to see differences between quality or after
export to the same folder, so it is easier to see directly in the image
background what kind of file is that.

patch against git master to show type mime over icon-view

See Small patch attached to implement type mime format printed over icon-view
item (at top/center of thumb).

Of course, this feature must be configurable in setup icon-view dialog page.

Gilles,

I personnaly don't neeed this, but why not ? I think the background color shoud
be transparent. In darktable the text is printed before the thumbnail in big
fonts.

Off topic: gilles you should install darktable, it is a very nice editor, with
an opencl based kernel, and cool widget to edit contrast and colors, Maybe some
code could be ported/shared with darktable.

I already installed Darktable from Git, and it's unsuitable. I'm lost. So far,
it's a complex and unstable code...

Well, maybe you have reason, and is not too elegant but ... It's very
functional!! I have no doubt you will surprise us with a more elegant way to do
it, but don't miss usability and functionality. We would like that at one sight
(without to have to see in other area) we could know each thumbnail format
(like in DarkTable is now).

Is a great step, but I think the tag must be in each frame feet, not over
thumbnail image (see attached file).
