Summary: No GPS meta data are written to picture Product: digikam Version: 1.5.0 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Metadata AssignedTo: [hidden email] ReportedBy: [hidden email] Version: 1.5.0 (using KDE 4.4.4) OS: Linux When creating a JPEG file from a CR2 file, there are no meta data automatically copied to the new file from the data base (in the CR2 there are comments, tags, GPS data, etc.). So the function "Write meta data to picture" can be used to complete the JPEG file. But the GPS data are not taken. Please extend the function for GPS data. Another suggestion: May be in the future there will be a more comfortable way to copy all meta data directly when creating a JPEG file from a RAW file? Reproducible: Always OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34.7-0.5-desktop Compiler: gcc -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

If i'm sure about metadata, it's the preservation during conversion. As photograph, i don't want to see these information disappear. We use Exiv2 shared library to play with metadata. Please give use your original image, and the converted image to compare and test. --- Comment #2 from cfunghi <cfunghi gmx net> 2010-11-10 17:49:13 --- It seems to me, as if I couldn't describe the problem clearly enough, sorry. I'll try it again. I usually work with RAW files (CR2 Canon) and assign all meta data (as comment, tags and geo-location) to these files; of course, these meta data are written to the digikam database only, as RAW files can't contain such EXIF, IPTC or XMP data. Now I create a JPEG file from my RAW file using digikam image editor. The digikam meta data of the new JPEG file are complete with comment, tags and geo-location as applied to the RAW file. But the JPEG file does not have these information itself (not embedded). So if exporting the file, the information would be lost. Fortunately there is the function "Write meta data to image". Using the function copies the comment and the tags to the JPEG file, but NOT the geo-location information. Though it is also available in the digikam database. And this last thing is the issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #4 from cfunghi <cfunghi gmx net> 2011-12-23 18:45:35 --- Currently I'm using the Digikam 2.2 (with kipi-plugins 2.2) from SuSE 12.1 distro. The behavior is just as before: Edit a RAW file with geo-coordinates in digikam data base and save a jpeg copy of the picture. In digikam the geo-coordinates for the jpeg copy are still shown. But using the context menu "Open with..." -> showFoto shows the jpeg picture having no geo-coordinates.
