Summary: Erase photos with the mouse (not just a toolbar icon) Product: digikam Version: unspecified Platform: Unlisted Binaries OS/Version: unspecified Status: NEW Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: [hidden email] ReportedBy: [hidden email] Version: (using KDE 4.4.0) Installed from: Unspecified Linux Digital camera habits mean that users take many redundant photos of subjects, with the intention of deleting all but the best shot. However, there is currently no "mouse gesture" to perform the common task of deleting. I suggest middle-click (as web browsers use middle-click to close tabs) but other suggestions are welcome! Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #1 from Marcel Wiesweg <marcel wiesweg gmx de> 2010-03-08 18:54:22 --- An overlay (like the selection or rotate buttons in thumbnail view) would be more discoverable. However, we'd need some configuration to limit the number of overlays.

--- Comment #2 from Dotan Cohen <kde-51 dotancohen com> 2010-03-08 21:04:00 --- No, not another overlay! The user should not have to manoeuvre around overlays to click the photo. The mouse has an unused button that has precedent for deleting things in other common software (web browser close tab).

Jens Mueller <[hidden email]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #4 from Jens Mueller <tschenser gmx de> 2010-03-09 19:33:52 --- As I agree with Gilles not have another overlay I found the middle mouse button also not good. This button is often a combined scoll wheel/button. Image you scroll/zoom your images with scroll wheel and accidentally click on the wheel. Closing a tab does not matter that much than loosing you images. --- Comment #7 from Dotan Cohen <kde-51 dotancohen com> 2010-03-10 09:17:09 --- > What about a simple button in the upper toolbar? ;) It is too far away, and too small a click target for such a common operation. Right now Digikam has two modes: Viewing and Editing. It seems to me that there actually needs to be a third mode, Organizing, which would have less emphasis on things like zooming and panning but would have more emphasis on tagging, deleting, grouping (see bug #121310), filing into albums, and making little touchups like redeye removal. I'll take that idea over to the mailing list, as it pertains to this issue but is much more general.

We will never implement a new icon-view overlay to delete file. I never seen this feature in other desktop.
