In digikam "albums" are nothing else than folders. They should be called so.
From my windows programme Photoshop Elements I am used to a nice feature:
Virtual albums to group pictures located in different folders or only a
selection of one folder (comparable to tags). This would give me the chance to
completely change to linux.
