After your comment I deinstalled libxine and now digikam starts as expected.

But then no pictures are shown, only the folders from my album...

digiKam use kio-slave to play with database contents. messages from the console
said that kio-slave cannot be found on your system. sound like kio-slave are
not installed at the right place.

I recommend to use a bootstrap script avaialble in digikam/project subfolder to
set-up env. variable before to compile digiKam. Look script content, it's small
and easy to understand, and adpat path to KDEroot dir where kio-slave must be
installed.

This problem will not reproducible since 5.0.0 as all KIO slave was replaced by
a multithreaded interface in digiKam to query the database.
